BioSolar, Inc, a company known for its biotechnology-based solar products to reduce the production costs of the photovoltaic solar modules, has successfully completed the tests on using bio-backsheets for solar modules.
The exhaustive tests performed by an autonomous agency ThermTest discloses that the thermal conductivity of using of bio-backsheets was observed to be 70% more than the normal petroleum based backsheets which actually improves the performance of solar panels dramatically by frittering the heat generated inside the module faster while contrastingly in solar modules fixed with normal back sheets the efficiency of the silicon solar cells reduces radically, when the heat inside the module increases.
Dr. David Lee who leads BioSolar as its Chief Executive Officer said that at the outset the bio-backsheets were developed to make the solar module greener and to trim down costs while increasing the durability, the enhanced power out put has come astonishingly as an incentive for the efforts. He further said currently the company is attempting to successfully integrate the bio-backsheet in the panels to improve the power production efficiency, cost effectively.
He expressed his happiness about the high level interest shown by the participants at the recently concluded InterSolar 2010 for the Bio-backsheet as a groundbreaking product.
