GE Power & Water has made an announcement about the expansion of their renewable energy portfolio, focusing on advanced solar products and services.
GE would now offer a diverse range of products that include new solar thin film panels, inverters and systems, which could be utilized in large scale multi megawatt projects all over the world. GE has always focused on providing high quality technology at low costs. It has established itself as a leading player in the wind energy segment in 2002 by installing over 21 GW of wind turbines globally.
According to Victor Abate, GE’s Vice President of renewable energy, GE’s strong technical expertise and global service network were the foundation of their solar system solutions. The company recently declared the introduction of two thin film products. One product is the Commercial development of a thin film product based on Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) with help from PrimeStar Solar. They have also developed the 1 MW Brilliance solar inverters, which are backed by GE’s expertise in power electronics and proven conversion units used in GE wind turbines globally. This inverter is highly reliable and has a proven performance.
