‘From research to reality’ is the theme of the 10th Greenhouse Gas Technologies Control Conference (GHGT-10), which will be held in Amsterdam from September 19 - 23. More than 1500 scientists will discuss barriers to and opportunities for implementing carbon capture and storage (CCS).
In the current phase, in which many demonstration projects are being planned, the main challenge for the years ahead is to overcome barriers to the deployment of carbon capture and storage and to create the conditions required to implement CCS. These issues are technological, but they also involve legal and financial aspects, public acceptance and policy. These topics will be discussed in depth during this four-day conference.
GHGT-10 is the 10th international conference on capture, transport and storage of CO2. Keynote speakers are Anders Levermann (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research), Keywan Riahi (IIASA/GEA, Austria) and John Gale (IEAGHG, UK) and in seven parallel sessions a large number of distinguished scientists will present and discus the latest developments in the field.
Other prominent participants include Bo Diczfalusy (Director of Sustainable Energy Policy and Technology, IEA, Paris, France), Hans van der Vlist (Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and Environment of the Netherlands), and Dutch former Prime Minister Ruud Lubbers (Rotterdam Climate Initiative) and Bert Metz (European Climate Foundation and former co-chair of WGIII of the IPCC).
