As a developer of low-cost, high-efficiency thin-film photovoltaic solar panels, MiaSole has marked a milestone in panel production by achieving 17.3% efficiency.
In addition, the company currently works on manufacturing processes to deliver 14% efficiency in production at its plant located in Silicon Valley, California. These advancements signify increase of solar panel manufacturing efficiency to more than 30% when compared to last year.
In addition to advancement in manufacturing efficacy, MiaSole has made investments in research and development. This helped the company to disclose capability of copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) thin-film technology in the photovoltaic industry. It is noted that the company’s CIGS thin-film panels have been used in several global projects in Asia, Europe and North America. Thus, more than 55MW of solar power has been delivered by MiaSole till date. Electric vehicle recharging stations, rooftops and utility scale fields are some of the segments for which the thin-film photovoltaic solar panels have been chosen.
MiaSole’s CEO, John Carrington stated that the advancement in manufacturing efficiency reveals that the company is working towards a low-cost structure to be competitive with leading solar manufacturers around the world. He also added that they will continue innovation to provide the lowest-cost of power to its customers.
