The SMP21 – Low-Maintenance, Secondary Standard Pyranometer

The SMP21, a secondary standard pyranometer from Kipp & Zonen, integrates the CMP21 sensor technology. It has analog output, low maintenance and the RS-485 Modbus® interface. The SMP21 includes an internal desiccant that can function for up to 10 years, which significantly minimizes the maintenance costs.

The SMP21 uses the CVF4 ventilation unit to increase the dome cleaning interval and improve the quality of measurements. It includes the Modbus® RTU interface, and comes with individual test cosine response data. The SMP21 provides a power supply ranging from 5 to 30 VDC, making integration in solar power and meteorological stations both simple and easy. It is protected against short circuiting, over voltage, and reversed polarity. As the output and connections of the SMP21 are standardized, the equipment can be easily interchanged during recalibration.
