XEMC-Darwind 5MW Offshore Wind Turbine from Darwind

Darwind offers the XEMC-Darwind 5MW offshore wind turbine. To protect the wind turbine from the salty and moist sea air, the tower and nacelle of this wind turbine is completely sealed.

This wind turbine utilizes a gearless direct drive technology and incorporates a single large-sized bearing to withstand the massive rotor force and does not use a central shaft. The technology utilized in the turbine allows the creation of a small lightweight permanent magnet direct drive generator thus saving on foundation, logistics and construction of support structure costs.

The exterior shield of this wind turbine is roofed with small surface extensions to transfer the generated heat to the cool air thus eliminating the need for a separate cooling system. The rotor diameter of this wind turbine is 115 m, the length of the blade is 55 m and the generator diameter is 5.3 m. The height of the tower is 100 m. The tip speed is rated as 108 m/s and the tip speed ratio is 9. The cut-in wind speed of this wind turbine is 4 m/s, its cut-out wind speed is 25 m/s and rated wind speed is 12 m/s. The wind turbine has a speed of 18 rpm, its torque is 2940 kNm and its noise level is 109 dB (A).

The XEMC-Darwind 5MW wind turbine provided by Darwind incorporates a generator that is not connected to any electrical systems. The functions of this wind turbine can be monitored onshore by utilizing sophisticated monitoring systems.
