Lagerwey offers the L82 2.0 MW wind turbine. The simple wind turbine incorporates a direct drive technology and utilizes reduced number of parts.
This wind turbine uses a multi pole synchronous permanent magnet generator with a dual row tapered roller type main bearing. This generator employs a closely monitored automatic lubricating system for increased efficiency. The hollow main shaft used in the turbine has direct access to the hub and this feature makes the design lighter with increased level of stiffness to bear higher level loads.
The generator incorporates a passive cooling system and is securely closed to survive outside dust and severe coastal weather conditions. The L82 2.0 MW wind turbine from Lagerwey incorporates a three bladed upwind type rotor with 82.5 m diameter and a connecting hub 80 m in height. The blades used in this turbine measures 40 m in length and are made of fiberglass epoxy material with integrated lightening protection. The speed of the rotor varies in 7.5–18.5 rpm range and offers a swept area of 5350 m².
The safety systems incorporated in the wind turbine includes independent pitch system for each blade, rotor and yaw brake and locks for yaw and drive train. The cut in wind speed of this wind turbine is 2.7 m/s, its cut out wind speed is in the range of 25–28 m/s and this wind turbine achieves nominal power production at 12.5 m/s.
