A recent research conducted by the British Gas Green Streets programme has indicated that the installation of solar panels on churches as well as other religious buildings in the U.K. can help raise £34 million annually.
The company’s research has shown that the solar panels installed on U.K.’s religious buildings can generate solar cash in excess of £29 million by means of the Feed-in Tariffs scheme, a programme that generates green electricity and pays organizations as well as households for producing “green” energy.
Additionally, £5 million can be saved from the fact that electricity need not be bought since the energy needs can be met by solar panels. Apart from realizing cost savings, the religious institutions in Britain can play a vital role in protecting the environment and save around 42,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
