TVA Unveils Power Initiative for Mid-Sized Renewable Generators

TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) has unveiled a new power initiative by way of adding another source towards its growing portfolio in renewable power.

This new TVA initiative has been aimed at the mid-sized renewable generators. TVA’s renewable standard offer will be encouraging more renewable development  by allowing the developers to enter into price contracts in the longer-term with TVA.

These new renewable energy projects might be having the capability of producing electricity in the range of 201 KW and 20 MW. TVA’s program has been designed for accommodating projects which prove to be too large for the company’s Generation Partners Program which has been developed for the residential as well as small commercial customers which generate 200 kW or less.

A number of utility companies and states buy renewable power from the developers or the excess power that gets produced by way of usage of a set price or the standard offer for encouraging the growth of wind, solar and other electricity forms which emit no pollution as well as the greenhouse gases. TVA will be paying a set price towards this renewable power based upon the electricity availability in the TVA grid. This new initiative would be helping the company in meeting the peak power demands while increasing renewable generation.
