ProLogis, a globally known distribution facilities company, declared that it has signed the accord for the second stage of 100 MW solar power generation project with a leading Californian Utility company, the Southern California Edison (SCE).
The second phase includes rental contracts for 4.8 million square feet of roof space over eight buildings and installing a 25 MW solar power system. Earlier in May 2010 the company had signed a main accord with SCE to offer a total power of 100 MW through its photovoltaic installations under the rooftop solar program. ProLogis has completed a total of 38MW solar energy installations for SCE which includes the first part of the agreement and a pilot program completed for the SCE in 2008. Like all the other previously signed accords, SCE will invest system and operate to feed the power produced into its grid to serve its clients while ProLogis will provide the site hosting services along with expansion and supervisory services. The project construction is all set to start in the fall.
ProLogis currently has around 41 rooftop constructions under various stages over buildings in countries such as US, France, Spain, Japan and Germany and possesses over 450 million square feet of roof top space for solar installation and solar power production.
