Bacavalley Energy to Supply Meralco 4 MW Power

Bacavalley Energy has declared the opening of its 4 MW biomass power generation plant in San Pedro, Laguna, with an investment of around $10-million. The project utilizes methane gas produced from the 12 acre landfill facility located at Sand Pedro, Southern Luzon Province.

Bacavalley Energy has signed a power purchase accord with the power distribution utility of the country Manila Electric Meralco) to export the electric power generated from its landfill facility to the power grid of the utility. The landfill facility where the power generation plant is located had approximately 1.6 tons power generating waste as on December 2009. Though two of the landfill facilities of the area have been closed in 2007 one of its cells with a capacity of around 1.2 million cubic meters is still open for power generation. The San Pedro methane gas plant utilizes gas engines to change the methane gas into power. The company is looking forward to be a leading power generator in Philippines by utilizing the methane power generation technology.

Peregrino Fernandez, President of Bacavalley Energy, said that his company is looking forward to open one more methane power generation plant in  Visayas and one more in Luzon.
