Xunlight Completes IEC 61646 and 61730 Certification Process for Thin-Film Solar Modules

Xunlight, a designer, developer and producer of lightweight and flexible thin-film silicon solar modules, declared that its solar modules have met the necessities of IEC 61646 and 61730 certification standards and received certificates.

TÜV InterCert GROUP, an autonomous certification company has subjected the flexible and lightweight solar modules manufactured by the company for exacting tests set under the guideposts of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and certified them as meeting the required quality, safety and performance standards.

The certification will enable Xunlight to join the elite group of flexible solar module producers qualified to sell their solar products in the European markets. The IEC has approved five solar modules of the company up to 307 W for use in systems up to 1000 VDC. The certified modules are offered in 91 cm and 48 cm widths with 5.5 meter length. The received IEC certifications will compliment the present UL 1703 certification of the company required for the North American Solar markets.

The company produces its IEC 61646/61730 and UL 1703 certified products by utilizing its 25 MW roll-to-roll solar cell manufacturing facility and the products are available in large quantities. The company is planning to utilize the certification to clear its $60 million backlog in the European markets by delivering its initial production quantities meant for commercial rooftop installations to its partners in European countries.
