Sorubin Make Green Mentorship Finals for Energy Efficient Aeration Products for Water Treatment

Sorubin, the leader in ‘new generation’ energy efficient aeration products for water treatment, has reached the final of the first edition of Skype founder Niklas Zennström’s Green Mentorship Award, a prize that has been founded to focus on the work being done by entrepreneurs to tackle climate change and create a low carbon future. Sorubin is among ten companies that compete for the title, which among other things gives a personal mentorship from the famous Internet millionaire for a whole year.

The prize is awarded by the Zennström Philanthropies, a foundation founded by Niklas Zennström and Catherine in 2007 to support organisations around the world that work for a better environment, and supports companies that do the same.

Niklas Zennström co-founded Skype in 2003. The company was sold to Ebay two years later for $4.1 billion. After some changes in ownership, Microsoft acquired Skype earlier this year for $8.5 billion from a group of investors, including Zennström.

The winner of the Green Mentorship Award will get Niklas Zennström as a mentor for a whole year, and also support from the venture capital firm Atomico and Zennstrom Philanthropies, and their respective networks. The winner will be announced on December 12 in Stockholm, Sweden.

“This is of course really good news and a very strong sign that we are on the right track with our innovative aerator”, said Stefan Sandström, CEO, Sorubin. “One year of mentoring by Niklas Zennström would be an invaluable help in our development, and may even be beneficial to the entire planet since our technology can make an energy-intensive industry - water treatment - much more eco-friendly.”

Sorubin is a Swedish clean tech company that has developed a "new generation" of energy efficient aerators for water treatment on an industrial level. Sorubin’s innovative and patented aerators are energy efficient, quiet and easy to both install and retrofit. Sorubins aerators have the potential to reduce electricity consumption by up to 90 percent.
