These changes are advantageous to the US economy but modify the dealings with energy choices, national security, climate change and health.

Nevertheless, finding new solutions through advancement in the energy sector are believed to be helpful in addressing these issues. An event will be hosted by The Hamilton Project at Brookings on June 13, 2012 at Stanford University to find the optimal ways to address these problems while helping the country achieve its energy and environmental objectives in the long term.

Welcome speech will be delivered by Sheryl Sandberg, who serves as Chief Operating Officer at Facebook. Next Robert E. Rubin, former U.S. Treasury Secretary, will outline the event.

Other participants include George Shultz, a distinguished fellow at Hoover Institution and former U.S. Secretary of Labor, Treasury, and State; Sally M. Benson, Director of the Global Climate and Energy Project at Stanford University; Jennifer Granholm, former Michigan Governor; Thomas F. Steyer, Farallon Capital Management Senior Managing Member; Vinod Khosla, former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Sun Microsystems; James E. Rogers, Chief Executive Officer at Duke Energy; and David J. O'Reilly, former Chevron Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
