AUO Commences EU Project as Anti-Dumping Measure for Solar Solutions

Published on August 16, 2012 at 8:46 AM

By Nick Gilbert

AU Optronics, a company that manufactures displays and provides complete solar solutions has commenced its European Union (EU) project in a bid to offer a “made-in-Europe” suite of solar solutions in conjunction with other players in the photovoltaic industry.

The company is actively promoting the project as an effective platform complying with anti-dumping sentiments prevalent in Europe with respect to solar technology.

AU’s solar module manufacturing facility in the Czech Republic that was established in 2010 will be central to the project not just by virtue of its location but also owing to its capability to produce highly efficient and high quality solar modules using Taiwanese automated technology. A high degree of product precision is achieved by an integrated and automated design for the product line. The power capacity of the solar modules produced in the Czech facility is 150 MW. The modules have received IEC, MCS, UL and GSE certifications.

AU collaborates with partners to build solar power plants across Europe in Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Dr. L.J. Chen, President of AU Optronics’ Solar Business Operations, stated that their solar module facility in Czech Republic offered the benefit of local manufacturing amidst growing anti-dumping sentiments in Europe and envisages the EU project to provide an open forum for resource sharing, thereby making it the best solar solution complying with anti-dumping policies.
