Sonoma County Conserves Water Through Installation of Waterless Urinals

Sonoma County Water Agency's High Efficiency Plumbing Fixture Direct Install Program, which includes free waterless urinal installation, is a model demonstrating the benefits of public and private partnerships to the local community, environment and economy.

Brian Lee, who manages the program on behalf of Sonoma County Water Agency, stated that the agency anticipates repeating success like last year as both contractors and customers are getting financial benefits from the program.

Falcon Waterfree Technologies’ waterless urinals, which totally eliminate the use of water, are ideal water-conserving option for Sonoma County Water Agency as it promotes water conserving efforts. Since most of the participants in this program so far this year are residents, the agency promotes the participation of commercial properties and their installation of Falcon's waterless urinals.

Falcon’s Director of Government Affairs, Richard Sang stated that this program demonstrates the difference that can be created in the community with the help of government incentives to go green. The company is working with several water providers to promote such programs in their respective municipalities.

Majority of the waterless urinals installed has been from Falcon since the start of Sonoma’s program. Increasing interest in water conservation and Falcon's expanding market share in waterless urinals are expected to increase that number. Businesses are able to lower their sewer and water expenses by installing waterless urinals as every Falcon urinal can save up to 40,000 gallons of water annually on an average. Customers can get immediate savings through this direct install program without any upfront expenses. Moreover, the program improves the local economy by providing work to plumbers.
