Institute for Sustainable Development Awards Green Plus Certification to HRW

HRW, Inc., an Associa company, recently announced that it has been re-certified with the Green Plus™ Certification awarded by the Institute for Sustainable Development (ISD). Green Plus™ recognizes organizations not only for their environmental efforts, but for their success in balancing strong business, community and environmental practices – known as triple bottom line sustainability.

HRW will be honored with the re-certification at the Green Plus Recognition Breakfast Tuesday, June 18. Beginning at 7:30 a.m., the event will be held at the Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, N.C.

ISD seeks to educate, motivate, and recognize smaller enterprises for their efforts toward greater sustainability, and to extend practical knowledge and expertise in sustainability by developing new leaders in the field.

Green Plus™ helps businesses find the equilibrium within the areas of people, planet and performance. To qualify, HRW completed a 90 question, comprehensive assessment of its organization’s concentration in those three categories. After receiving targeted, customized feedback on its sustainability performance and its strengths and weaknesses, HRW was able to recognize problem areas and improve upon them. Green Plus™ certification was then awarded once it passed the re-evaluation process.

“The Green Plus certification process has helped us immensely,” said Cathy Wade, HRW Inc.’s President. “It has provided tools, support and guidance that helped us to learn how to organize our resources better and taught us to pay attention to details that when looked at collectively, make a big difference in our organization’s environmental impact. That triple bottom line sustainability benefits not only our company and staff, but also our greater community and clients.”

HRW sincerely believes the community management industry can make a difference, and is committed to leading the way by taking a closer look at new and better ways to operate. The innovations that are achieved with this certification will save its clients money, improve efficiency and convenience, and have a positive impact on the environment. HRW is also uniquely positioned to be a valuable resource to associations and residents who are interested in lowering their impact on the environment without incurring unnecessary costs.

At HRW, several “green” practices have evolved in recent years and were further developed during the evaluation period. Current practices include electronic viewing of board member packets, online billing statements and online payment options. These options have shown they not only reduce waste, but improve company efficiency.
