Application Engineer Named for Dow Corning European Solar Business

Dow Corning has named Codin-Sorel Ureche as Application Engineer & Technical Services (AETS) for its Solar Market Business Unit in Europe, which provides silicon-based solutions throughout the entire solar value chain. He will be based at Dow Corning offices in Wiesbaden, Germany

Mr. Ureche will interact regularly with Dow Corning customers to facilitate product testing, application and evaluation. He will also provide feedback and support on customer projects.

“Codin-Sorel’s experience in the solar and semiconductor industries will help fuel growth in specialty product areas such as sealants, encapsulation, potting agents and our material house expansions,” said Gaetan Borgers, Dow Corning’s global solar industry director.

Before joining Dow Corning, Mr. Ureche managed customer relationships for more than a decade with Applied Materials, a semiconductor manufacturer. He was also responsible for managing technical aspects of the photovoltaic value chain from wafer and cell production to module assembly at EverQ in Germany, now Sovello.

“Codin-Sorel will play an important role in helping to maintain Dow Corning’s reputation as the material provider of choice for solar applications in Europe’s fast-growing solar market,” Borgers said. “We look forward to working with him to meet customer needs exactly.”

Dow Corning Solar Solutions provides materials and services for the entire photovoltaic supply chain, from silicon feedstock for ingots and wafers production to solar module assembly materials. Its solution packages are built on high-performance silicone products such as encapsulants, adhesives, coatings, potting agents and sealants, as well as next-generation solar grade silicon.
