Backwoods Solar Electric Systems supplies the Whisper 100 windmill that is manufactured by Southwest Windpower. The wind turbine has the ability to operate in moderate to extreme environmental conditions. The wind mill can be field adjusted in different voltage set points such as 12, 24, 36, and 48. The maximum rated power of the wind turbine is 900 watts at a wind speed of 28 miles per hour. The wind mill is equipped with a Whisper charge controller.
The Whisper 100 windmill offers 100 kilowatt hour per month at an average wind speed of 12 miles per hour. The rotor of the wind turbine measures seven feet in diameter. The wind mill is suitable for applications in telecommunication sites, remote homes, and rural areas. The wind turbine features four bearing spindle that helps to enhance the efficiency. The wind turbine does not include brushes in the alternator. The windmill is designed with only three moving parts.
The Whisper 100 windmill includes three blades that are fiber reinforced and injection molded. The upgraded yaw shaft of the wind turbine carries the current to batteries with more efficiency. The start up wind speed of the wind mill is 7.5 miles per hour and the survival wind speed is 120 miles per hour. The body of the wind mill is made either in marine material or cast aluminum. The shipping dimensions of the wind mill are 1295 x 508 x 330mm.
