The Kalina Cycle energy conversion technology uses an ammonia-water mixture as an active fluid to increase the efficiency of the system and to provide flexible solutions for different operating conditions. It can increase the efficiency of the power plant by 10% to 50% based on the application. When the operating temperatures of the plant are lowered, the relative gain increases. This power cycle technology from Global Geothermal provides 20% to 50% efficiency at lower temperatures and 10% to 40% at medium temperatures. It utilizes a lower boiling point fluid to decrease the heat source inlet temperature.
The Kalina Cycle energy conversion technology is a process technology having no new components. There are standard heat transfer components and for implementation of this technology, no component improvements are required. This technology has a simple operation and control. It uses ammonia-water working fluid, which is environmentally safe.
