PowerChem Technology has developed a brine treatment technology to control scaling in geothermal fields. The technology has helped to handle brine treatment for silica, calcium deposit control, chloride corrosion control, carbon dioxide control and hydrogen sulfide control. Calcium carbonate and calcium silicate are some of the calcium compounds that are found in geothermal systems. Scales formed due to Calcium carbonate can cause operation problems. Silica scales can present the most challenging operation problems as they tend to form into amorphous silica scales.
The treatment technology helps to increase the production by controlling the deposits. PowerCool, Geogard and Geosperse are the three treatment products developed by the company. The Geosperse scale inhibitor technology is developed to treat geofluids. They are used to treat geofluids in flash wells, injection lines, and production wells.
