Natural Resources Department of Louisiana Awards Energy Efficiency Programs Contract to the Shaw Group

The Department of Natural Resources of the State of Louisiana has given a contract to the Shaw Group Inc. for implementing and overseeing the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program and the State Energy Program. Funding for the two programs will be done with the assistance of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Under this contract agreement, Shaw will offer design, oversight, implementation as well as program management services to the Department of Natural Resources for some of the programs including the following: Home Energy Rebate Option: Enhances the energy efficiency of new homes by means of providing performance incentives; State Buildings – Lead by Example: Complies with the current energy efficiency targets for complexes and office buildings; Renewables: Promotes the use of renewable energy resources that are commercially available; ENERGY STAR Appliance Rebate: Promotes the purchase of appliances that are ENERGY STAR-qualified by means of providing rebates; and Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program: Offers funding for developing and implementing projects that help decrease fossil fuel emissions and improve energy efficiency.

The above-mentioned programs will help offer long-term environmental and economic value to the residents of Louisiana by means of increased usage of renewable resources, decreased reliance on non-renewable energy resources and increased public awareness about the conservation of natural resources.
