Water Treatment System Provides Safe Drinking Water

Ålands Water WTP, supplier of packaged drinking water, has installed the Primozone ozone solution to deliver perfect drinking water even during the summer season. The plant has replaced three air-fed generators and supplies 475m3/h of drinking water to the residents of Mariehamn, which is the larger part of Åland Island and attracts large number of tourists during the summer season.

Ozone Water Treatment System

Installed in June 2007, the Primozone ozone solution is still working perfectly. In fact, the energy consumption has reduced significantly when compared to the old system. The process disinfects the water and removes taste and colour from humus.

The turnkey delivery includes two separate lines, each with an ozone generator Primozone GM-18, rated at 900g O3/h with ozone concentration of 200g O3/Nm3; compressor Kaeser SM 12, delivering 1200 l/min at 7.5 bar; oxygen generator Oxymat O 100, rated at 6,1Nm3 O2/h at 4 bar (g) with purity > 93 %; and Venturi mixing system Mazzei 4091 SS.

Reduced Energy Consumption

Since the installation of the new treatment system, the plant has been operating without any interruption and has delivered perfect drinking water. Christian Nordas, MD at Ålands Vatten AB, informed that when the old ozone generators were worn out, the company decided to replace them with Primozone ozone generator system, which is quite reliable and has worked extremely well since the installation. The production of both oxygen and ozone accurately follows the fluctuations that are inherent in the water flow, which means that energy usage is reduced considerably in contrast to the old system.
