DustIQ: Optical Soiling Measurement Technology

DustIQ from Kipp & Zonen monitors the loss of light transmission due to the occurrence of dust on PV panels. This is performed using the innovative Optical Soiling Measurement OSM) technology from the company. The instrument has no moving parts and avoids the need for sunlight to perform measurements.

DustIQ offers the data needed for solar energy plant management systems, thus enabling users to decide precisely when and where to clean. Users can set alarms in their system software to point out when a specific soiling ratio is reached and cleaning is required. The cost-effective pricing of the instrument enables users to install a network of DustIQ units to track the variation in soiling throughout the plant.
