Investing in the Future of Hydrogen

The Principles of Engineering team of Darien High School (Darien, Connecticut) recently hosted their annual Energy Symposium. The day-long event was designed to feature companies and thought-leaders in the areas of renewable and alternative energy.

The invited parties give presentations on the future of clean energy to the students, staff, and community of Darien High School. The speakers are encouraged to talk about their research and inventions, products, and discoveries and contributions in the area.

Using Electrolysis Technology for Renewable Applications

Larry Moulthrop, Vice President of Hydrogen Systems at Proton Energy Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of" Nel Hydrogen, was one of the many guest speakers who delivered a presentation at the event.

Mr. Moulthrop spoke to the community attendees and the Principles of Engineering team on the significance of electrochemistry careers and how advancements in electrolysis technology are being used to support renewable applications worldwide. Students were excited to know that the Connecticut-based Nel Hydrogen Subsidiary houses an operational hydrogen fueling station.

Investing in the Future

Leaders in clean energy fueling were invited to display their vehicles to students passing by. This interactive experience was of particular use to the participants of the Principles of Engineering Team, as they are scheduled to compete at the Shell Eco-marathon to be held in Detroit at the end of 2016 - the group will be entering a hydrogen fuel cell car.

This is not the first competition for the Principles of Engineering team. The students have also taken part in the International Maker Faire, in New York and won 4 awards. Nel Hydrogen was proud to participate in Darien High School's Annual Energy Symposium.

The company believes that investing time and resources into students is essential for the advancement of technology and the sciences. The company is confident that the students of Darien High School will make important future contributions to the workforce.
