The Energy 11 Twin-Screw Extruder can be adapted to a variety of applications in today's battery R&D. The fully ported, horizontally split barrel enables flexible feeding of both solid and liquid materials.
Interchangeable die designs are suited to a wide range of materials, including dry granules, polymeric solid-state electrolytes, electrode films, and wet slurries. Eight precisely regulated temperature zones along the barrel provide versatility in processing.
The Energy 11 Twin-Screw Extruder overcomes certain challenges in battery manufacturing by enabling continuous, thorough mixing. The completely ported horizontally split barrel enables flexible feeding of both solid and liquid materials.
The throughput varies from 50 g/h to 5 kg/h of finished product. The removable control panel allows the extruder to be operated within a fume hood or glovebox as needed. Specifically for battery applications, all product-contact components are made of CPM® steel, eliminating the possibility of metal abrasion in the end product.
The entire assembly, including the feedport, barrel, screw, and die, can be removed with just a single tri-clamp connection. This easy removal ensures fast cleaning and prevents cross-contamination.
The Energy 11 Twin-Screw Extruder’s strong shear force capabilities allow it to decrease solvent during mixing by up to four times, often from 60 % to 15 %.
When scaling to a manufacturing process, this saves on solvents but also has the potential to yield significant savings in the subsequent drying process, as it requires proportionally less energy.
