Lithium-ion battery materials have to be manufactured in dry or inert conditions to safeguard the delicate materials involved.
The Thermo Scientific Energy 11 PROTECT is a glovebox solution to this problem, combining twin-screw extrusion capabilities with a precisely regulated argon environment in a user-friendly configuration for easy operation.
The Energy 11 PROTECT integrated glovebox solution, with its diverse variety of accessories, enables users to create and manufacture cathode and anode slurries, as well as electrolytes for solid-state batteries. Its dispersive and distributive mixing characteristics enable the processing of dry electrodes in an argon environment.
All extruder product-contact components are easily and rapidly dismantled for thorough cleaning and to prevent cross-contamination. This feature also allows for rapid modifications to the experiment settings.
A variety of feeding options for solid and liquid materials, all managed by the extruder’s control panel, ensure that every ingredient enters the process precisely, regardless of the material requirements. The Energy 11 extruder’s mixing eliminates batch-to-batch variability and consistently produces a fully homogeneous final product, as it is a continuous process by design.
Applications
- Solvent-reduced mixing and dry cathode processing
- All solid-state battery material mixing
