Shrink Solar Displays its Fifth Generation Solar Concentrator Technology

A fully owned subsidiary of Shrink Nanotechnologies, Inc. Shrink Solar LLC has unveiled its fifth-generation solar concentrator technology.

Based on the photovoltaic quantum dot composition of the company and its proprietary NanoShrink material, the technology has obtained higher efficiencies than earlier generations of energy generating cells. Shrink Nanotechnologies licenses opportunities and develops products in the solar power generation; biotechnology and sensors R&D tools; and medical diagnostics businesses.

Incorporating additional circuit design and structures to increase efficiency, this fifth generation solar concentrator is likely to be used in existing PV systems for consumer products, roofing and windows among other solar applications. This nanotechnology-based technology of Shrink Solar filters out wavelengths presently not absorbed using silicon and directs them onto a device by focusing light energy, all without using lens, a mirror or a tracking device.

Shrink Nanotechnologies’ CEO Mark L. Baum stated that the easy upgradeability of the company’s solar concentrator technologies provides an opportunity to attract partners such as window manufacturers and silicon PV manufacturers.
