Bradford to Construct Novel Sustainable Homes

The city of Bradford in the U.K. will witness the construction of homes built to the Code for Sustainable Homes’ Level 6. As part of a council housing project of Bradford, around 45 novel homes will be constructed on Longfield Drive, West Bowling.

Out of the 45 homes, 12 will obtain the Level 6 standard of the code, meaning they will achieve zero carbon emissions, whereas the other 33 homes will be constructed to Level 4 standard of the code.

The Level 6 homes will comprise solar PV panels and a communal biomass boiler, whereas the Level 4 properties will comprise solar-powered heating. All of the homes will be fitted with a rainwater harvesting equipment. Recently, iSuppli reported that the U.K. will become the quickest growing solar PV market this year.
