PsomasFMG’s to Implement Solar Power Solution for Antelope Valley Union High School District

PsomasFMG has commenced the construction of one of the most prominent solar power project in California under public-private partnership for the Antelope Valley Union High School District (AVUHSD).

For the 9.6 MW project costing over $52-million PsomasFMG is offering a turnkey type of solar solution including that of organizing funds for the construction. The solar system will be installed for the school district without it incurring any capital investment.

The solar project includes participation by ten school campuses in the AVUHSD. As a part of the project PsomasFMG will construct steel-frame coverings to hold the solar panels and to offer shade for the parking lot to keep around 4,000 vehicles of the students and faculty. A total number of 41,000 PV panels will be used during the construction for generating power. The solar structures will be constructed to provide aesthetic appeal and minimum visual view while attracting maximum sun light for increased power production. The vehicle port construction will incorporate latest lighting and video camera facility to improve security in the campus.

The solar power installation will enable the school district to achieve energy freedom and will drastically reduce the spending on electrical power. The solar project is designed to meet more than 80% of the energy needs of the school district and the balance of its power requirements will be met by Southern California Edison the local power utility. PsomasFMG will continue to assist the school district with long-term asset management. The management services to be offered by the company include vending of electric power at pre-fixed rates all through the purchase agreement period. The AVUHSD estimates to save around 18% on its energy expenses during the first year of operation. The school district is projected to save around $40 million on its energy spending during the next 20 years.
