Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has declared the availability of a new training course for making residential solar installations and other solar projects effortless. The course offered free by the institute accounts the usage of a solar water heating system along with a propane-fueled tankless water heater as back-up facility.
The course titled, "Propane-Enhanced Solar Water Heating,’ offers general information on the demand for solar energy, prevailing market trends, available tax incentives and the geographical locations where the solar water heating is in demand. It explains that the professionals involved in residential constructions can introduce solar water heating as an effective alternative to reduce power consumption. The course provides details on the working of the solar water heating systems including that of water storages and how the existing water heating systems can be connected to the new solar systems and how the backup systems will commence the heating process without disruption. The course also details the different sizes of tankless water heaters that are right for home usage, monitoring of the heat in the solar storage tanks and the available tax incentives to support solar installations.
Tracy Burleson, PERC’s director of residential programs, said that the solar water heating offers good savings for the residential users and allows them to save around 85% of the utility bill costs. He added that most of the solar systems require a backup facility and use of propane is found to be ideal due to its eco-friendly and energy saving properties.
