Israel and El Salvador Forge Partnership for Renewable Energy

Israel-based SDE Wave Power Plants has formed an alliance with El Salvador's El Esplendor Development to implement Wave Power Technology in El Salvador and California. SDE is one of the leading companies engaged in planning, development and promotion of power generating facilities that derive power from sea waves.

SDE Wave Power Plants

The company endeavors to aid developing countries to shift 100% to clean energy industries, and supports renewable energy and energy conservation programs.

SDE also seeks the support of global organizations like World Bank and the United Nations to fund its joint projects involving renewable energy. El Esplendor invests in various technological undertakings in Central America and California with Wave Power Plants being one of them. PROESA, the Government Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador, is supporting the Israeli-Salvadoran venture through government-based agencies like Inversiones Energeticas (INE) and the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (CEL),

SDE’s technology involves transformation of hydraulic pressure generated by sea wave motion into electricity. The factors contributing to energy production are the wave’s rise and fall, speed, depth, height and flow below the approaching wave. The system produces power without affecting the environment. The joint initiative will commence with knowledge transfer by SDE CEO Mr. Shmuel Ovadia to El Esplendor CEO Mr. Raul Cornejo. Mr. Ovadia will then proceed to identify locations to build Wave Power plants along the Salvadorian and Californian coastlines.

The first phase will involve the construction of two Wave Power plants in El Salvador. The first plant has a capacity of 1 MW to power a surfers’ resort being built near Punta Mango. The second is a 10 MW commercial plant that would be supplying power to the town of La Libertad.
