Services Help Industrial Companies Reduce Energy Use and Greenhouse Gas Emissions

MWH, a global provider of environmental engineering, strategic consulting and construction services, today announced the introduction of sustainable energy management services (SEM) to industrial clients in the United States.

Building on its success in Europe and Asia-Pacific, MWH is now providing SEM solutions in the U.S. to meet the increasing demand for sustainability, greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction, and energy efficiency services. The offering will include energy efficiency assessments for businesses and manufacturing facilities, oversight in the design of energy management programs, and identification and analysis of potential energy conservation measures. Sustainable energy management programs offer the immediate, direct benefits of reduced fuel and power cost, decreased GHG emissions, and improved image and reputation that come through running a green business.

“Making our sustainable energy management services available to U.S.-based clients provides an opportunity for MWH to leverage our sustainability expertise and strong reputation in this field and build upon the portfolio of services we provide to industrial and manufacturing clients,” said Alan Krause, President and Chief Operating Officer of MWH. “This service offering is consistent with MWH’s purpose of building a better world by helping companies reduce their energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.”

Utilizing a programmatic approach to energy management, MWH’s SEM services leverage best practices and lessons learned from facility to facility, regardless of location. Clients can benefit from compounded savings and GHG reductions as the programs are applied across their operations.

“Our engineers are specifically trained to find efficiencies that go beyond just lighting, heating and air conditioning,” said Don Walsh, MWH’s manufacturing market sector leader. “We believe our ability to look at and find efficiencies in our client’s manufacturing process are what set us apart.”

“Other benefits to clients include MWH’s ability to deliver services globally and provide an independent viewpoint that does not favor equipment vendors, service contracts, the sale of large capital projects, or energy brokering,” says Walsh. “MWH has the experience to sort through the emerging regulatory issues, public programs and equipment vendor claims, to guide our clients toward an energy management strategy that integrates with their business needs.”

MWH Industrial and Manufacturing Services

Around the world, MWH has helped diverse organizations operate in an environmentally sustainable manner by reducing their energy use, energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions. In several European and Asian countries, MWH has helped develop and implement the use of alternative energy sources such as cogeneration, waste-to-energy plants, wind farms and solar systems.

MWH’s sustainable energy management program consists of four service phases: establishing client energy program criteria; conducting energy efficiency assessments; implementing Energy Conservation Measures (ECM’s); and tracking performance.

As part of MWH’s Climate Change Commitment, the company measures its own greenhouse gas emissions and has committed to reducing them. MWH also provides climate change education to communities and to clients and is a member of the non-partisan Clinton Global Initiative, the EPA Climate Leaders, and The Climate Group.
