Solutia Inc. has acquired Vistasolar encapsulants producer Etimex Solar GmbH for $294 million (€240 million) from Etimex Holding GmbH. Etimex Solar is a producer of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) encapsulant targeted at the photovoltaic market.
The incorporation of Vistasolar EVA into the Advanced Interlayer division of Solutia, which comprises Saflex PVB, places Solutia as a provider of top-ranking encapsulants to the photovoltaic market.
The general manager and president of the Advanced Interlayer division of Solutia Timothy J. Wessel stated that the combined worldwide commercial capabilities, technology resources and processing expertise of the two companies will help enhance the expansion of Vistasolar and Saflex into the photovoltaic industry.
