An erstwhile industrial site situated in the South Side area of West Pullman in Chicago is shining with the power generated from a few thousand solar panels. Over 32,000 solar panels in this site are being operated by Exelon Corp.
Howard Learner, an expert from the Environmental Law and Policy center, has said that there seems to be a revived interest in solar power as this technology has become cheaper these days. He said that many developers in Illinois plan to establish solar projects in the state as it has laws that help the rapid increase in the supply of solar power and the creation a several green jobs.
Paul Elsberg, the Exelon spokesman, said that the solar plant in Chicago is the first experience with solar power for the company. He said that the company hopes to gain more exposure to the functional aspects of solar projects.
