Global Energy Industry to Design New Integrated Solar Combined Cycle

The energy industry in Boston has witnessed a unique event of the leading companies joining together and creating the Hybrid Energy Consortium.

The consortium is aimed at introducing a new design for the large sized commercially viable integrated solar combined cycle (ISCC) power plants, especially meant for the operation of utility companies. The consortium includes JGC Corporation of Japan, German-based companies FLABEG Group and Schlaich Bergermann und Partner Sohne GmbH and QGEN of USA.

HEC unveiled its mission to hasten up the design and development of the proposed ISCC plants. The plant will commence introducing the most modern type of concentrating solar power (CSP) technologies hooked to the traditional gas and coal using plants for producing electric power and for sequestering salt from water. The consortium is planning to conduct field trials for the components utilized in the ISCC module in its developed technology demo sites located in North Africa and North America. On completion of the R&D for the development of commercially viable designs, the consortium is planning to tender its design, supply and building services to companies engaged in developing solar projects all over the world.

The solar energy produced from the plants can be analogous to the currently used fossil fuel energy plants and help in eradicating the existing subsidies extended to exclusive solar concentrating or solar PV power plants.
