Arizona State is all set for becoming a center for the algae-based biofuels sector. Arizona researchers are currently developing algae as an alternative fuel for powering trucks, cars and planes towards propelling the economy of the state into the future.
Arizona has the ideal climate as well as abundance of land availability and is poised to become a major center for this multi-billion dollar clean energy sector.
Scientists in the Polytechnic campus at the ASU (Arizona State University) have mentioned that crucial innovations in recent years in research have boosted the biofuel production capabilities from gallons in thousands to gallons in millions. ASU researchers opine that they are just about three or five years away from achieving large-scale production of biofuels so that it will eventually reduce the dependence upon foreign oil in the U.S.
The prominence of Arizona as a hub for algae fuel-research is further highlighted and showcased by the fact that the state will be hosting an “algae summit” during September 2010 and will have leading energy scientists as well as industry representatives at the gathering in the Valley. ASU is developing algae as an environmentally-responsible, renewable, cost-efficient energy source.
