Entech Solar to Submit its SolarVolt CPV Module for IEC 62108 Testing

Entech Solar Inc, has indicated its intentions to submit its new concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) ware SolarVolt for International Electrotechnical Commission’s IEC 62108 testing by 30th September 2010.

Completion of the testing process will allow the company to introduce a fully certified commercial product in the fast growing solar PV market all over the world. The product is meant for use in bigger sized industrial, commercial, government and utility power production applications.

For the purpose of preparing and carrying out the certification program, Entech Solar has associated with TÜV Rheinland Photovoltaic Testing Laboratory (PTL) LLC, located in Tempe Arizona. The laboratory is ISO 17025 qualified by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation. Before the issuance of the IEC 62108 certificate, the product has to undergo simulated environmental tests such as speeded up aging, withstanding impact of hail, load bearing capability, withstanding extreme hot or cold or dry weather conditions and longer use in outdoor environment. The IEC 62108 standard is designed for universal applications and underlines the capability of the product to withstand varying weather conditions prevailing in different countries and allows the company to market its product globally.

David Gelbaum, CEO of Entech Solar, said that his company has been regularly carrying out tests on its produced modules and components utilizing its indoor and outdoor testing facilities and environmental testing chambers. He added that his company has installed the largest solar simulator measuring 107 feet long to test its products. He explained that testing for the newly developed cost effective CPV modules has been carried out under the supervision of Mark O’Neill, CTO of the company and the skilled CPV personals trained in CPV development, field operations and testing. He shared his excitement about the impending certification process that will help in the successful launching of the product.
