Sydney City in Australia is on the verge of getting many solar panel installations.
One among the biggest non-residential solar projects is likely to be installed in Sydney in the coming half decade with solar panels likely to be erected on over 30 properties owned by the Sydney Council.
Sydney City’s $12.3-million solar project will be cutting greenhouse gas emissions to the extent of 3,000 tonnes annually while supplying enough electricity for powering approximately 400 homes. Sydney City is on the way in delivering upon its commitment towards reducing carbon emissions to the extent of 70% while producing 25% of the city’s electrical energy from renewable resources by the year 2030, as per Alan Jones, the council’s expert on climate change and international energy.
This solar project will see the installation of solar panels with an overall capacity of 2,000 kW, thus dwarfing the present largest non-residential solar installation which is at the University of Queensland with 1,200 kW capacity.
