Iberdrola Renovables Launches Wind Control Facility in Portland

Iberdrola Renovables has launched a wind facility in Portland, Oregon.

This facility is slated to be the most advanced control facility for wind energy in the U.S. Iberdrola Renovables happens to be the second largest operator of wind farms in the U.S. The company has 41 wind farms operating currently with a combined capacity of almost 3,900 MW.

The NCC (National Control Centre) of Portland will be monitoring the company’s wind farms, substations as well as its wind turbines all year round in the U.S. Iberdrola Renovables has launched its Portland Oregon National Control Centre, which happens to be the most sophisticated facility in its range for wind energy in the U.S. This facility is enabled with operational control on approximately 800,000 inputs from about 2,500 wind turbines throughout the nation.

This innovative infrastructure functions real-time throughout the year across the country towards controlling all the wind farms as well as substations. Additionally, this unit receives data from Iberdrola Renovables’ wind farms across the world. This new facility in Portland has its base upon the CORE control center located in Toledo. Both these facilities stand interconnected for real-time controls.
