Standard Solar Powers Municipal Buildings in Prince Georges County

Standard Solar, a solar system installing company that caters to the requirements of business, residential and government users, declared that it has finished a number of solar installations over the municipal buildings in Prince Georges County that includes installations over Cottage City and Bladensburg police departments and a number of Town Hall constructions.

The 144 kW solar power systems installed over nine buildings of the Prince George County, by utilizing the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant will save the county around $30,000 on its electricity charges. The installation will also help the county to get $50,000 every year by selling the accrued Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs). The company has already completed the installation of its seven roof top systems in the selected locations and is looking forward to complete the installation of other two systems before the end of February 2011. The last two projects will be installed over the car parking in buildings.

Scott Wiater, President of Standard Solar, appreciated the efforts of the Prince Georges County in seeking renewable energy sources to electrify the municipal buildings. He added that solar energy solutions have become more cost-effective and affordable for every one to install.
