Green Media Enterprises (GME) announced today a new event installation sponsored by Manpower, Inc. (Manpower), the innovative Green Media Enterprises Green Career Center that will be featured at both the Green West and Green East events. Green West is scheduled May 20-22, 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Green East will take place October 21-23, 2008 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York, NY.
“The mission of the Green West and Green East expos is to provide resources and solutions to the many issues surrounding sustainable practices and the need for companies to go green,” stated Diane O’Connor, President of Green Media Enterprises. “The concept of the Green Career Center came as a direct result of companies needing to find good candidates to fill these new career opportunities. Where does a company post these positions or even start to look for candidates? By partnering with Manpower, Inc, a leader in staffing and personnel services, we feel the Green Career Center can provide a very positive resource to this burgeoning marketplace.”
The Green Career Center will be designed as a resource provider to many different sectors, from companies and institutions looking to post positions and source qualified candidates, to candidates searching for potential employment opportunities, and even to universities and continuing education programs seeking to promote new education and certification programs. Through the partnered services of Manpower, these sources will be available online through the Manpower website, and through the personalized consultant services Manpower, Inc. offers to both its corporate and institutional partners and to job-seeking individuals.
“We are very excited to be able to share our expertise with visitors to Green West,” said Lee Fossey, Manpower’s Regional Director for Central California and Greater Los Angeles. “Our team will be ready to consult with individuals seeking green-collar jobs as well as employers looking for green workers. Careers that promote environmental responsibility are now very much in the mainstream. We feel very strongly that encouraging employees and employers to live and work green is a competitive advantage in attracting and retaining talent.”
“As a global company, Manpower recognizes the importance of sustaining our environment. That was a major factor behind the environmentally friendly design of our new world headquarters in Milwaukee, WI,” Fossey continued.
Manpower’s four-story, 280,000-square-foot world headquarters, which opened last September, is on track to be certified under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines of the U.S. Green Building Council. The building’s sustainable features include an efficient design that uses 25% less energy and 40% less water than the typical building of similar size, with natural light available in 90% of the workspaces and more than half of the project’s wood harvested from rapidly renewable forests.
A visitor admission ticket to Green West includes access to the full spectrum of exhibits, conference panels, exhibitor product presentations, special events, keynote addresses, and unique networking opportunities.
