RECs Brokered by MotivEarth Now Eligible to be Green-e Certified

The Center for Resource Solutions announced today that renewable energy certificates (RECs) brokered by MotivEarth, LLC are now eligible to be Green-e certified. MotivEarth, LLC, will join the network of renewable energy companies that offer products certified by Green-e Energy, the nation’s leading certification and verification program for renewable energy.

The RECs available to commercial and wholesale customers through MotivEarth, LLC will be directly supplied from Green-e eligible renewable facilities in the United States. By purchasing RECs through MotivEarth, customers will support these resources as well as aid the development of new resources in the United States.

With Green-e Energy certification, MotivEarth can now use the official Green-e Energy logo in association with transactions brokered directly between generators and end-use customers. The Green-e Energy logo identifies superior, certified renewable energy options, and is used by businesses to communicate the purchase and/or generation of certified renewable energy. Customers can use the Green-e Energy logo to quickly identify renewable energy options that meet Green-e's high standards. The Green-e Energy logo is a symbol of the commitment to the high standard of renewable energy Green-e supports, and MotivEarth is committed to brokering.

"We are very pleased to broker Green-e certified REC products for our corporate and energy company customers," said James A. Westbrook, President of MotivEarth. "Purchasing RECs should be an important part of any company's efforts to become a green, sustainable energy consumer. On-site energy efficiency and renewable energy programs can go only so far to reduce reliance on fossil fuel-based electricity. By purchasing Green-e RECs, companies not only go all the way to become green energy users, but they do so using a certified product they can trust."

One REC represents the attributes associated with one-megawatt hour of energy from a renewable source. Energy consumed through a renewable source equals less environmental waste and pollution, and customers who purchase RECs benefit by displacing other non-renewable sources from the electric grid.

"We are happy to see MotivEarth offer a Green-e certified product to their customers providing them with a real opportunity to support renewable energy and a healthier environment" said Green-e Associate Andreas Karelas.

Green-e Energy is the leading renewable energy certification and verification program in the U.S., with over 175 participating vendors who sold nearly 10 million MWhs of renewable energy in 2006. The program provides independent, third party certification to ensure certified renewable energy meets strict environmental and consumer protection standards.

Providers of Green-e certified renewable energy agree to abide by the Green-e Energy Code of Conduct, and meet strict Green-e disclosure and truth-in-advertising requirements. All Green-e marketers undergo an annual verification audit to document that the company purchased and/or generated enough quantity and type of renewable energy to meet customer demand and marketing claims.
