Braich Ddu Wind Farm Project by Dulas

Dulas has provided environmental impact assessment and planning consultation services for the Braich Ddu wind farm. The project site is located at Wales. The company provided services to nPower, who financed the project. The two objectives of the service included identifying and controlling constraints in developing the site layout, both from technical and environmental point of view. The other objective was submission of Environmental Statement and planning application for the wind farm proposal.

Braich Ddu wind farm project

Dulas finished the environmental impact assessment for the project in six months time. The company submitted the planning application to the Gwynedd Council in the beginning of the year, 2005. After this, the wind farm project obtained the permission for planning. At present, the Braich Ddu wind farm is the only farm operating in Gwynedd.

The approval for the wind farm site at the committee level was delayed for about two years. The site approval for the Braich Ddu wind farm was delayed due to consideration of more information submitted after the application. Before selecting the site, habitats of Black Grouse and Upland Waders were also considered. The site was located near  the scheduled ancient monuments. For the wind farm, consent for three 1.5 megawatt wind turbines was granted. The construction for the wind farm was completed in summer 2007 and it was commissioned in August 2007.
