ACCIONA Energy’s Wind Power Capacity Increases by 49% in 2009 in Spain

By adding 1,308 MW of wind power capacity in 2009, ACCIONA Energy has increased its total wind capacity to about 4,000 MW in Spain, which confirms with the data released by Spanish Wind Power Association (AEE).

According to the figures released by AEE, ACCIONA Energy has added the maximum new wind capacity during the last financial year. The addition of wind capacity in the year 2009 represents 49% increase when compared to the data of the previous financial year. With a market share of 20.9%, the company’s position in the wind energy sector in Spain is further strengthened.

ACCIONA Energy had 2,688.34 MW in operation at the beginning of 2009 according to AEE’s Wind Power Observatory. With 948.78 MW wind power assets acquired from Ecyr (Endesa) and new installation of 359.70 MW, ACCIONA Energy has integrated 1,308.48 MW in 2009. In Spain, the company has added the highest wind power capacity in 2009 when compared to other companies in the country.
