Ferro Expands its Asian Photovoltaic Technology Center Capability

Ferro Corporation has announced that as part of its plan to prop up growth in the Asian market, the company is enhancing capability in its Taipei, Taiwan and Suzhou, China, photovoltaic (PV) technology centers. Currently, the Technology Center of Ferro Corporation is being expanded for meeting the growing demand from manufacturers of solar cells in China.

Taiwan’s Advanced Technology Center is likely to be finished by the close of 2010 and is likely to be equipped with sophisticated solar cell firing and equipment. Both laboratories will be able to build prototype solar cells.

Ferro Electronic Materials has also commissioned space to start a Center for Excellence in Singapore focused on development of new products, supporting the solar materials product series of Ferro Corporation. This center will expand the R&D capabilities of Ferro Corporation for next-generation materials. Housing a solar materials laboratory for performing base R&D activities, this facility will be situated in Singapore Science Park.
