Sharp Inks Supply Agreement for 58-MW Avenal Solar Facility

Sharp Electronics Corporation has signed a supply agreement towards a 58-MW solar power facility in Avenal, California. Upon completion, this Avenal photovoltaic solar plant will be one of the largest in its range in the world.

Avenal city comprises three adjacent projects having their location close to the Kings County in Central California. This Avenal solar power plant has been developed by the company Eurus Energy, a global leader in renewable energy development. All these three solar projects will be utilizing the thin-film solar modules provided by Sharp Electronics Corporation, a global major in producing solar electricity.

Solar power production by Avenal will be enough for powering around 36,000 households when functioning at peak capacity. This power will eventually be sold off to PG&E under PPAs (power purchase agreements) for a 20-year period, approved by the CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission).
