USFloors, an environmental conscious company engaged in importing and producing of flooring materials such as cork and bamboo, declared that it has started generating power from its 365.04 kW third solar PV installation.
The current installation incorporates 1521 Suniva solar panels installed by United Renewable Energy, an Alpharetta- based company and an SMA Sunny Central Inverter. USFloors availed 30% Federal grand and a State Grant of 35% from Georgia Environmental Finance Authority to complete the installation. With the completion of this installation the company becomes one of the largest solar power producers in the state by generating nearly 0.5 MW of clean power. The energy generated from the installation is equal to offsetting of 11,400 tons carbon dioxide emissions or saving fossil fuel which can be utilized for running vehicles for nearly 23 million miles. The power generated from the facility can be utilized to meet the power requirements of nearly 54 average American households. The company has introduced green technology in most of its operations and is aiming to achieve LEED certification.
Piet Dossche, President of the company, had stated that the operations of the company in 2007 and soon it became the only cork and bamboo floor producing and supplying company in the USA. The company received the Green Step Award in 2010 and is dedicated to utilizing reusable materials for flooring by adhering to the tough U.S. and European ecological standards. The company strictly follows the guidelines of Forest Stewardship Council and keeps off from cutting woods or utilizing the cut wood from natural forests as raw material.
