NanoCSP Portable Solar Power Units Launched by NANOGEN

NANOGEN Power Systems has announced the addition of their NanoCSP line of modular and completely portable solar power plants. The company has offered the efficient large scale Collecting Solar Power (CSP) solar systems ranging from 250 kW to 1MW units.

The CEO of NANOGEN, Perry West has revealed that theirs was the first company to have successfully downscaled the CSP technology, which is normally used only in billion dollar solar power plants and has converted it into a low cost, scalable and modular system, which could be shipped all over the world in cargo containers and could be easily be deployed in a two day time frame. Nanogen located on the Space Coast in Florida has employed the engineering expertise found locally for the integration of both patented and proprietary technologies and thereby reduced capital costs for achieving higher efficiency rates when compared to other solar applications.

NANOGEN’s handy solar power plants are readily available in multiples of 250 kW up to 1MW and are packed in a steel container for transportation either by barge, sea, truck or by rail. When the containers reach their destination they are aligned with the sun on the basis of latitude utilizing a surveyor’s transit. Within two days the power plants can start operating with the help of two workers, after which there would be no need for using fossil fuels.

A patented immobile parabolic trough captures the sunlight and it does not require mechanical tracking motors. In contrast to the bent glass mirrors, which are found in  large scale CSP plants, the NanoCSP troughs are extremely light and use shatterproof thermoplastic parts, which could be recycled, as they are non toxic and give out no organic compounds during either the repair or recycling process. The total cost of the solar collector components has been reduced by NANOGEN by almost 60%. Originally, these portable units had been designed mainly to handle power generation during disasters but now they could be used as back-up power systems for public buildings, in military deployments, co-generation compliance by utilities and in many off grid mining operations, which are held in Africa. NANOGEN leads in the portable and sustainable solar electricity generation sector.
