EPA Identifies Harris Bank Among Top 50 Green Power Organizations

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has named Harris, a financial services organization, on the top 50 list among the green power organizations in the nation, placing the bank in the 42nd position. Green energy helps in protecting the environment by way of preventing greenhouse gas emissions.

When companies purchase green power, they help in developing renewable energy. As per the EPA, Harris had already purchased green power in excess of 91 million kWh, equal to avoiding CO2 emissions of about 13,000 passenger vehicles annually. Harris provides solutions for wealth management, investing, lending and banking as well.

Harris, along with BMO Financial Group, its parent company, is committed towards achieving carbon neutrality across their enterprises in terms of transportation and energy usage by 2010 end. The bank’s sustainability strategy named Clear Blue Skies helps in educating employees about environmental issues and in sharing knowledge about reducing the carbon footprint, both at work and home. Additionally, the bank operates a hybrid vehicles fleet while making use of the technology offered by Cisco’s TelePresence towards reducing the emissions that are associated with travel.
